The hardest ticket in sport, at a course that looks nothing on television like it does from the ninth fairway
The Masters 2027: Augusta National, the Ballot, and Which Days to Target
About the Masters
The Masters Tournament is the first major of the golf season, played every April at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. The 2027 tournament runs Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 April, with practice rounds from Monday 5 April.
What Makes It Different
Augusta controls everything. Tournament badges are distributed by a public ballot entered a year ahead, not sold; the club limits crowd numbers deliberately; phones are not permitted anywhere on the grounds; and the patron code of conduct is enforced.
The effect is a sporting event that feels nothing like one — quiet, uncrowded at the ropes, and with a landscape whose elevation changes television flattens completely. The other effect is that it cannot be arranged the way other events can.

Where to Start
- Understand the ballot — tournament badges are allocated by random draw, entered the previous year. There is no purchase route through the club
- Consider the practice rounds — Monday to Wednesday are balloted separately, far easier to obtain, and include the Par 3 Contest on the Wednesday
- Book Augusta accommodation early — the city is small and every house within reach is let for the week, often a year ahead
- Plan for no phone — no photography, no calls, no maps for the whole day, so meeting points have to be agreed the old way

The 2027 Tournament
Practice rounds run Monday 5 to Wednesday 7 April 2027, with the Par 3 Contest on the Wednesday. Competitive rounds are Thursday 8 through Sunday 11 April.
The field is small by major standards and the cut falls after Friday, so the weekend rounds carry fewer players over more familiar ground. Note that the 2027 week overlaps the Grand National and the opening weekend at Coachella — three fixtures in the same few days.
Access
Badges come through the ballot. Beyond that, the realistic routes are corporate hospitality around the tournament and private arrangements outside the club’s own channels — both of which have to be set in motion long before the week.
We do not resell badges. We work the routes that exist, and we are candid when a particular year cannot be done.
How We Help
- A realistic assessment of what is achievable for the year in question
- The ballot handled at the right time
- Accommodation in Augusta secured while it exists
- Flights into a small airport that is briefly very busy
- The days around the tournament arranged so the week works
