The Caribbean is not one cruising ground but three — and the winter calendar, more than the boat, decides how the week goes
Yacht Charter in the Caribbean: Three Regions, One Season, and What Shapes the Cost
About Yacht Charter in the Caribbean
Planning a yacht charter in the Caribbean begins with geography. The islands run for hundreds of miles, and the three charter areas most clients choose — the British Virgin Islands, the northern Leeward Islands, and the Grenadines — differ in character, distance, and pace.
This page explains how to choose among them, when the season runs, and what shapes the cost of a crewed charter. For the wider picture, see our yacht charter overview and our guide to the Monaco Yacht Show.
Three Regions for a Luxury Yacht in the Caribbean
A luxury yacht in the Caribbean is usually chosen by region first and boat second.
The British Virgin Islands. The territory has around 60 islands, of which Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke are the four main ones. It has long had a reputation as a premier sailing destination and hosts the BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival, established in 1972. Distances are short and anchorages sheltered, which suits a first charter or a family.
The northern Leewards. Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, and Anguilla form a more social, restaurant-led route. Saint Barthélemy covers only 25 square kilometres and has about 25 hotels, most with 15 rooms or fewer, which gives some sense of the island’s scale and its reputation for privacy.
The Grenadines. A chain of small islands and cays between Saint Vincent and Grenada, with about 32 of them in its northern part. The Tobago Cays marine park, declared in 1997, is the centrepiece: a sand-bottom lagoon with five small cays and a reef. It is quieter, more remote, and best suited to those who want the water more than the shore.

Caribbean Yacht Rental and the Winter Season
Caribbean yacht rental follows a clear calendar. The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from 1 June to 30 November and peaks from late August to September, so the main charter season is winter and early spring.
The sector marks the start of its season early in December with the Antigua Charter Yacht Show, a professional event for brokers, captains, and crew, scheduled for 4–9 December 2026. For clients, the practical meaning is that the best boats are booked for Christmas, New Year, and February well before the season opens.
Yacht Charter Caribbean Prices: What Shapes Them
Yacht charter Caribbean prices depend on a set of factors, so a number in isolation says little. We do not publish figures, because the right comparison needs a specific boat and dates.
- The vessel — size, age, build and type, whether motor yacht, sailing yacht or catamaran
- The crew — captain, chef, and deckhands, which grows with the size of the boat
- The season — Christmas, New Year, and the winter months sit at the top of the calendar
- The region — the distance between ports and any one-way arrangement
- The running costs — fuel, provisions, and port and cruising fees, usually settled separately
Understanding the structure matters more than any headline rate. It lets you compare two quotes like for like and see exactly what is included.
Arrange It With Perfect.Live
Tell us the dates and the company, and we will find the region and the boat
Where to Start
- Choose the region by temperament. The BVI for sheltered ease, the northern Leewards for restaurants and company, the Grenadines for remoteness
- Fix the dates around the holidays. Christmas and New Year are the first to close, and boats for February follow closely
- Decide on the crew. A crewed yacht with a chef changes the week more than any other choice, and the brief should say how involved you want to be
- Leave room for the weather. The best itineraries are loose enough that wind and sea change the order of days, not the quality of them

How We Help
We match the vessel to the region and the party, negotiate the charter terms, and brief the captain and chef on preferences. On either side of the week we arrange flights and private travel, and ashore we reserve tables through our fine dining and nightlife network. The result is a charter planned around you from the first call to the last anchorage.
