Chalet Lhotse looks straight down La Face, one of Val d’Isère’s best-known pistes, from a dining room that also catches the village church spire in the same view. Inside, a grand open-plan living room built around a piano and open fire sets a different tone than the usual chalet great room. The spa takes it further: an indoor pool with a drop-down projector screen, sauna, hammam, gym and jacuzzi, all run on ozone technology rather than chlorine. Six en-suite bedrooms plus a bunk room sleep 12 adults and 2 children — and, notably for a property this size, the whole chalet is fully wheelchair accessible. A dedicated chauffeured 4×4, unlimited open bar and an on-request list running to private flights, helicopter transfers and in-chalet entertainers mean almost nothing here needs to be arranged twice — for the quieter Le Fornet end of the valley, Chalet Orca is the equivalent a short walk from the Fornet gondola
