Burrata, fresh pasta, and a kitchen that adapts well — Northern Italian cooking at the Four Seasons, without the meat
Scalini Dubai Vegetarian Menu: What to Order and How to Ask
Scalini Dubai at a Glance
Scalini began in London, where the original opened in Chelsea in 1988. The Dubai outpost has been at the Four Seasons for over a decade, serving the same Northern Italian repertoire: handmade pasta, a wine list weighted towards Tuscany, and a room designed for long evenings. It is one of the European dining rooms our Private Advisors are asked about most often in Dubai.
Vegetarian Options on the Menu
Most of the vegetarian choices at Scalini come from the starters, the pasta section, and the desserts. Scalini Dubai vegetarian options typically include
- Burrata, one of the restaurant’s best-known starters
- Seasonal vegetable starters, such as roasted vegetables served as a first course
- Pasta dishes that can be prepared without meat or fish on request
- Risotto, where the kitchen can adapt the preparation for vegetarians
- Tiramisu and house-made gelato to finish
The menu changes with the seasons, so the exact dishes vary through the year. The restaurant’s official website is the most reliable reference for what is currently served.

Egg Dough and Vegan Requests
Most of Scalini’s pasta is made fresh from egg dough. That makes it suitable for vegetarians but not for vegans by default, and it is the most common point of confusion at the table. Stocks, cheeses, and desserts can also contain animal products that are not obvious from the menu description.
For a fully plant-based meal, the best approach is to request it in advance rather than on arrival. With notice, the kitchen can plan dishes that work without egg, dairy, or animal-based stocks, rather than simply removing ingredients from existing plates.
The Rest of the Menu
For tables where some guests eat meat and fish, Scalini’s classics include Polpo e Patate, octopus with potatoes; Polpette di Nonna Livia, Wagyu beef meatballs with burrata; grilled branzino with mussels and clams; and lobster spaghetti. The sharing format of an Italian meal makes it easy for vegetarian and non-vegetarian guests to eat together without anyone feeling limited.
The Room and the Terrace
The dining room takes its cue from Italian trattorias of the 1960s, with Art Deco lines, warm wood, and deep upholstered seating. An open kitchen keeps the cooking in view. The terrace overlooks the resort gardens and is at its best from roughly October to April, when evenings on Jumeirah Beach are comfortable outdoors.
Good to Know Before You Book
- Dress code is smart casual
- The restaurant is typically open daily from noon to midnight — confirm hours for your date, particularly during Ramadan
- Scalini Cucina at Dubai Mall is a separate, unrelated restaurant, so check the address on any booking
Where to Start
When booking, mention dietary requirements at the same time as the reservation, and be specific: vegetarian, vegan, or no egg. For a first visit, start with the burrata, share a meat-free pasta, and leave room for tiramisu. Ask for a terrace table between October and April.
