Olympics 2028 Los Angeles: Tickets, Venues and How to Be There

A Games spread across a whole region rather than a single park, with the planning decisions made long before the opening ceremony

About the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

The Olympics 2028 Los Angeles edition, formally the 2028 Summer Olympics, runs from 14 to 30 July 2028. It will be the third time the city hosts the Games, after 1932 and 1984, and the programme covers 353 medal events across 36 sports.

The opening ceremony is planned for 14 July at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium simultaneously, with the closing ceremony at the Coliseum.

A Games Spread Across a Region

Los Angeles spreads its programme across the whole region. Athletics sits at the Coliseum near Downtown, swimming at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, gymnastics at the Crypto.com Arena, basketball at the Intuit Dome, and football at the Rose Bowl. The athletes’ village is on the UCLA campus.

The organisers describe a transit-first approach, but distances in Los Angeles are measured in time, not kilometres. Where you sleep decides how many sessions you can comfortably attend in a day, and that is the first decision to make.

Olympics 2028 Los Angeles Tickets: Where the Sales Stand

Ticketing has moved quickly. A registration draw ran from January to March 2026, followed by public sale windows in April and August 2026, and the organisers report that more than six million tickets have already been sold. First-come, first-served sales are planned for 2027, with the opening date yet to be announced.

Premium access is handled separately. LA28 has appointed On Location as its Official Hospitality Provider, with packages that combine seating with priority entry and dedicated lounges. We do not resell tickets. What we do is help you decide which sessions and which format are worth the effort, and arrange everything around them.

Choosing the Sessions

Not every day of a Games is equal. The opening ceremony is a one-off, and athletics at the Coliseum is the programme’s historic centre. Swimming at SoFi Stadium has a planned capacity of around 38,000.

The 2028 programme also brings back or adds flag football, lacrosse, squash, cricket, baseball, and softball, which gives a visit a different character from earlier Games. A short list of two or three sessions, chosen for atmosphere as much as for the medal, makes for a better trip than an attempt to see everything.

Where to Start

  • Choose the base before the sessions. Downtown, the Westside, and the coast each suit a different pattern of days. Rooms near the venues are likely to be the first thing to tighten
  • Decide how much of the Games you want. Two sessions and a week of Los Angeles is a different plan from a fortnight in the stadiums. The brief shapes everything else
  • Treat transport as part of the programme. Venues are far apart and the Games run on the city’s everyday roads. Private transfers and a driver with the schedule are worth settling early
  • Keep the evenings in view. The city’s table culture does not stop for the Games. A reservation at a restaurant or rooftop bar is easier to hold in advance than on the night

Beyond the Venues

July in Los Angeles means long evenings, rooftops above the city, and tables that fill early. The weeks around the Games are best planned as a whole trip rather than a list of fixtures. Our guide to the Milan Cortina Winter Olympic Games shows how we approach the same question for a different format.
