Abu Dhabi Finance Week: The Largest Financial Gathering in the Middle East

One week, one jurisdiction, and most of the region’s capital in the same set of rooms

About Abu Dhabi Finance Week

Abu Dhabi Finance Week is the flagship finance conference of Abu Dhabi Global Market, the emirate’s international financial centre. It was launched in 2022 and by 2024 had grown into the largest financial event in the Middle East, hosting more than 20,000 participants, 600 speakers, and 350 sessions. It is held under the patronage of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and the 2024 edition was supported by ADQ and produced the signing of forty-four memoranda of understanding with international partners.

The 2026 edition runs 7-10 December 2026.

The week exists because of the jurisdiction behind it. ADGM was established in 2013 and has been operational since October 2015, providing a common-law legal and regulatory environment for financial and non-financial institutions in the United Arab Emirates. It sits on Al Maryah Island and, since a UAE Cabinet resolution in 2023 extended its jurisdiction, on Al Reem Island as well — a combined area of more than fourteen million square metres.

Why the Jurisdiction Matters More Than the Conference

Anyone can hold a conference. What gives this one substance is that ADGM is the only jurisdiction in the region to apply English common law directly, including precedent from England and Wales, without codification or translation. Its courts are an autonomous common-law judiciary with exclusive authority over contract, property, and corporate disputes inside the jurisdiction.

The regulatory apparatus is correspondingly serious. The Financial Services Regulatory Authority supervises financial services, anti-money laundering, and listings, and it operates the RegLab, the first regulatory sandbox in the Middle East, which allows fintech firms to test products without meeting full licensing requirements. ADGM introduced a framework for virtual assets in 2018, making it one of the first jurisdictions anywhere to license exchanges, custodians, and token issuers, and it has been a member of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers since the same year.

Where to Start

  • Confirm the dates for the specific edition — the programme is published annually and does not simply repeat
  • Decide what you want from the week — it is a working conference, not an occasion, and it rewards a clear objective
  • Fix the meetings before you travel — the useful conversations are arranged in advance, not found in the corridors
  • Allow a day either side — Abu Dhabi and Dubai are close enough to combine and far enough apart to need planning

What the Week Is Actually For

Three constituencies converge. The first is capital: sovereign funds, family offices, and institutional investors from the Gulf and beyond. The second is the firms that want access to it, which is why the international houses send principals rather than delegates. The third is the regulatory and policy side, which is present because the jurisdiction itself is still being built and much of what is announced during the week concerns rules rather than deals.

The numbers from recent years give a sense of the momentum behind it. ADGM reported a thirty-one per cent increase in company registrations in 2024, bringing it to more than 2,200 active companies, with over 4,400 new employees joining the jurisdiction, and assets under management rose more than two hundred per cent year on year. Firms including PGIM, Franklin Templeton, and Skadden have opened regional offices. The conference is the visible surface of that.

How We Help

  • Accommodation in Abu Dhabi for the week, taken before the programme is announced
  • Meeting rooms, private dining and hosting arrangements close to the conference venues
  • Movement between Abu Dhabi and Dubai by car or helicopter, timed around the sessions
  • Tables and evening arrangements in both emirates, via our Fine Dining & Nightlife service
  • Private aviation, handling and crew arrangements for clients arriving on their own aircraft

Almost all of our work around this week is corporate, and it runs through our Business Concierge team — delegation logistics, client hosting, and the meetings programme rather than tickets. Clients in the region during the same season frequently combine it with the Dubai Airshow in November of alternate years.

Abu Dhabi Around the Conference

The city is a different proposition from Dubai and the difference is worth understanding before you arrive. Abu Dhabi is quieter, more institutional, and more spread out, and the financial district on Al Maryah Island is compact enough that a well-chosen base removes most of the travel from the week.

The season helps. The final months of the year are the only comfortable time to be outdoors in the Emirates, and the cultural district on Saadiyat Island has become a genuine reason to stay an extra day rather than a diversion. The desert is an hour inland and remains the most effective way to end a week of meetings.

One honest note on expectations. This is a conference week, and the value in it is access to people rather than access to a venue. We arrange the logistics, the base, and the hosting; the meetings themselves are yours to make, and we would rather say that plainly than suggest otherwise.
