A preventative brain health programme in Montreux, built on science and designed to keep the mind sharp for longer
Clinique La Prairie Brain Potential: Seven Days for the Mind
About Brain Potential
Clinique La Prairie Brain Potential is a seven-day brain health programme with neuroplasticity activities in Montreux, Switzerland, built around a single question: how to keep the mind sharp, resilient, and clear for longer. The clinic describes it as the first comprehensive longevity programme in the world dedicated to brain ageing, and it is available only at its Swiss clinic.
Rather than treating the brain in isolation, the programme works on the factors that shape its health over a lifetime — and combines a full medical assessment with nutrition, movement, sleep, and recovery in one week.
Where the Programme Comes From
Brain Potential is the result of a two-year collaboration between Clinique La Prairie and CHUV, the Lausanne university hospital, through its neuroimaging laboratory. Its foundation is five components of brain health that science considers modifiable: nutrition, physical activity, sleep, cardiovascular health, and immune health.
That choice is deliberate. None of these depends on genetics alone, and each can be measured, understood, and improved. The week is designed to do all three.
What the Week Aims to Do
The programme is organised with neuroplasticity activities around four goals. The first is to preserve brain performance, supporting focus, clarity, and long-term neurological health. The second is to boost cognitive functions such as memory, concentration, processing speed, and decision-making. The third is to delay age-related cognitive decline by supporting neuroplasticity and resilience. The fourth is to reduce neural oxidative stress, protecting brain cells from premature ageing.
It is a preventative programme rather than a treatment. The clinic is clear that Brain Potential cannot cure existing conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease; its purpose is to support brain longevity and help reduce the risk of chronic neurological conditions developing later.
The Medical Assessment
The week begins with a detailed picture of where you stand. Advanced laboratory tests are joined by screenings exclusive to Clinique La Prairie, including its Gene Aging DNA test and glycans and ceramides screening. A brain MRI analyses brain volume and structure, using the Quantib method for guests over 40 and a classic MRI for younger guests, while a chest CT scan with calcium scoring and a cardiovascular assessment — a consultation with a cardiologist, a stress test, and an electrocardiogram — look at the heart’s role in brain health.
Imaging examinations are carried out only after an initial evaluation with your referring doctor, based on your age, medical history, and overall health. A leading physician oversees the entire stay, with longevity consultations and follow-up throughout the week, alongside a consultation with a brain specialist.

Training the Mind
Cognitive assessment is followed by stimulation. Expert-led training sessions run during the stay and continue afterwards through a follow-up plan, so the work does not stop when the week does. A psychology session focused on stress management introduces cardiac coherence therapy, a breathing-based technique for calming the nervous system.
Nutrition for the Brain
Food plays a central role. A Nutrition Index Assessment, a proprietary tool of the clinic, identifies nutritional strengths and areas to improve, and a DNA microbiota test leads to a probiotic course based on the results, reviewed with a nutritionist in a remote consultation after the stay.
During the week, a private neuro-nutrition workshop and an Unlocking Longevity consultation turn the medical results into a personal nutrition plan. Meals follow the clinic’s anti-inflammatory menus, complemented by its exclusive daily complexes for protection, sleep, and relaxation and a nootropic blend, as well as longevity herbal infusions and the clinic’s own brain health formulas.
Wellbeing and Movement
The body is treated as part of the same system. A Wellbeing Index Assessment evaluates physical and mental wellbeing, followed by four sessions of low-frequency vibration therapy, a facial treatment by La Prairie, a head, neck, and shoulders massage and a Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage.
Movement is assessed just as carefully. A Movement Index Assessment evaluates physical function, neuromuscular health, and mobility, and leads into a personalised Moving and Brain session, a breathing session using the Moonbird device, and an outdoor hike.
Life at the Clinic
Between sessions, the week is spent in luxury accommodation with full board and full access to the clinic’s fitness and wellness centres, including the swimming pool, sauna, steam room, zero-gravity floating bed, and vitality pool. The setting is a large part of the point: a programme about sleep, stress, and recovery works best where all three are taken seriously.
Who the Programme Is For
Brain Potential is designed for adults who want to protect and strengthen their cognitive health before problems appear. It is not suitable for everyone, and the clinic lists clear contraindications: guests under 18, pregnancy and breastfeeding, neurodegenerative conditions or cognitive impairment, a traumatic brain injury or stroke within the past year, medication that significantly affects cognition, severe psychiatric conditions, and significant drug or alcohol dependence.

After the Week of Cognitive Wellness
Seven days is a beginning rather than a cure. Guests often leave feeling healthier and more relaxed, but brain health is a long-term matter, and the clinic recommends carrying the habits forward for life — a balanced diet, regular activity, regular medical check-ups, and attention to sleep and stress. The follow-up brain stimulation sessions and the remote nutrition consultation are there to make that transition easier.
Where to Start
- Speak to your doctor first — imaging and some examinations depend on an initial evaluation with your referring doctor
- Check the contraindications — the programme is preventative and is not designed for existing neurological conditions
- Plan a full week — the programme runs for seven days and only at the clinic in Switzerland
- Think about the months that follow — the follow-up plan and lifestyle changes are where the benefits are sustained
